Lush green gardens with plenty of old trees and colourful flowers sit at the centre of the guest house. Enjoy birdwatching from a lovely tucked-away corner of the garden. A swimming pool is accompanied by a shady thatch lapa and lively sun loungers. Meals are served outside in the garden or indoors in the dining room with its large communal table. Here, your hosts keep you entertained and engaged with energentic stories and knowledge of the region.
Seven rooms make up the the guest farm. Four sit in pairs and are semi-detached with metal or thatched roofs. Three stand-alone bungalows all have metal rooftops, one of which is big enough to accommodate a family of four. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms and sliding doors leading into the central gardens. They are cleanly and simply furnished, though a bit outdated. Stone floors and ceiling fans keep the rooms cool as there's no air-conditioning.
Self-drive day trips into southern Etosha is the primary activity here, though Vreugde offers a few other options. Take a game drive on the surrounding farm - hear, first-hand, about the joys and challenges of running a game farm in southern Africa. Take a walk with people who know the land intimately. Arrange a day trip to Etosha or Damaraland with a local guide. There is no set itinerary at Vreugde Guest Farm, everything is flexible and the owners and staff will go out of their way to accommodate you.
A safari wonderland, where plentiful waterholes amid the salt pans attract even more plentiful game.
