The hotel is compact, but good use has been made of the space to create a sense of seclusion. Two interconnecting pools lie between the hotel and the beach, and the dining and bar lounge are set to one side to maximise the ocean views. Above the open-sided dining area (where the food is varied and tasty), is a cool, brightly cushioned seating area to lounge away the hours. Wi-fi is available throughout, although it's best in the restaurant.
The 15 rooms, on two levels, are cool and comfortable, with cheerful sunset-coloured decor, wooden slatted doors and windows, plenty of fans (you can ask for more), large mosquito nets draped over sturdy queen-sized beds, and a spacious balcony or veranda. The en-suite bathrooms have a shower and toilet. The honeymoon suite, has its own garden and plunge pool, is oh-so romantic, and the upper sunshine suites with balconies and big views come in a close second.
Zoi Boutique Hotel is perfect if you're looking for a quiet place to stay, with close access to watersports and diving (the diving school is nearby). You can happily spend hours exploring the underwater world of Mnemba Atoll. Want to do some on-land exploring? Day trips to local villages are easy to arrange, as are tours to the spice farms, Jozani Forest and unmissable Stone Town.
