What to do in Amber Mountain National Park
Amber Mountain National Park showcases northern Madagascar's diverse ecosystems, with cooler temperatures than the surrounding areas. Well-maintained trails lead to waterfalls and natural swimming pools throughout the rainforest. The park is excellent for wildlife viewing, with eight lemur species and numerous chameleons and leaf-tailed geckos hiding in plain sight. Birdwatching is rewarding, with the endemic Amber Mountain rock thrush being a highlight for many visitors. For a cultural dimension, visits to nearby Sakavala and Antankarana communities provide insights into traditional Malagasy lifestyles and complement the natural attractions of this well-preserved mountain habitat.
