What to do in Isla Isabela
The largest of the Galapagos islands, Isla Isabela is the child of six colliding volcanoes, resulting in a rugged and curiously-shaped landscape. This is one of best places to see the archipelago's sea birds nesting on the cliffs and swooping over the water, as well as the endemic penguins who make impressive divers. Off the coast, beautiful coral reefs are a snorkelling and diving paradise. On land, visit Tagus Cove, where pirates once partied, or hike along trails past towering volcanoes - and you can spot up to five different species of giant tortoise.
