What to do in Mato Grosso

This is a region of vast, changing landscapes, where the dense Amazonian forest begins to morph and mingle with the Cerrado’s golden savannah and the wetlands of the Pantanal. In the dry season (May to September), hiking the myriad trails is a fantastic way to spy some of the Amazon’s iconic species including a vivid array of birdlife.
