Imagine a sea of rolling tea fields dotted with pretty colonial houses, and pristine lowland forests watched over by towering mountains wrapped in wispy clouds. No, we’re not in Kenya – these are the Southern Highlands, Malawi’s answer to Out of Africa. The glimmering mountains are the Mulanje Massif, proclaimed a forest reserve in 1927, and home to exceptional walking, cycling, climbing, trekking and horse-riding trails. If that all sounds a bit strenuous, then the beautiful tea plantations provide the perfect antidote. Who’s for croquet on the lawn and a decadent afternoon of tea and cakes?

We did have one glitch on our trip, which didn't start because of them, but it was a little tough to get through. We did solve the issue ourselves, and it didn't ruin our trip at all. We did end up losing a night at a nice game lodge though. Jeffi helped us plan our trip and understood well the style of travel we wanted.

Brilliant personal service from Johnny and his team. The website is an absolute dream to use and apart from being useful is great fun to plan anything from a trip of a lifetime to a budget conscious break. We normally book our own holidays and cut out the Agents but we are so glad that we found Timbuktu for our recent trip. It made everything so much easier and it wasn't any more expensive! Highly recommended.
