What to do in Rio de Janeiro

As Brazil’s ‘Marvellous City’, Rio is a place where you can do it all. If it’s sightseeing you want, take the train to the top of Corcovado Mountain to stand beside Christ the Redeemer – and soak up sensational views of the city and coastline below. Ride the tram across the famous Lapa Arches for a stroll in bohemian Santa Teresa, walk up the technicolour Selarón Steps, or wander through the sprawling Botanical Garden. And then there are the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, where you’ll laze on the bronzed sands as samba music escapes from nearby bars.
