What to do in Tangier

Despite being the last stop before Spain, Tangier isn't the mini Europe you might expect. In fact, there's a bit of everything, with old and new (and some in-between!) sitting alongside the modern and the traditional, all of which amalgamate in the Grand Socco market. Delve into the past at the Kasbah Museum or pretty Mendoubia Gardens, get to know the thriving artistic scene at the bevy of galleries, or even venture out to the 'Caves of Hercules' where the legendary figure is said to have lived. Tangier is on the coast so a day (or three) on the beach, sunning, swimming or learning to surf is blissful. And if you need a pamper, those traditional hammams are calling.
