What to do in The Elqui Valley

Make a detour through pretty and pristine Elqui Valley, where the world-famous Pisco is made. Pay a visit to local 'piaqueras', some of which still produce this potent brandy in the traditional way. The valley is also known for its collection of observatories, where you can take full advantage of the notably clear skies with evenings spent stargazing with expert astronomers. While the scenery, both terrestrial and skywards, take first place in Elqui Valley, you can also get to know one of Chile's most prominent poets, Gabriela Mistral, in her hometown of Vicuna.
