Spot wildlife hiking through the Ecocentro Danaus

This small biological reserve is a model of conservation. Once open farmland, this reserve has been allowed to revert to forest and now teems with wildlife. The main 1.5-hour trail winds through the forest where visitors can see a number of the 154 bird species recorded here, including honeycreepers, euphonias, tanagers & toucans. Several slow-moving sloths and other curious creatures live here too. See a flurry of colour in the butterfly garden and get a chance to see poisonous frogs.

Take in the views boat on Arenal Lake
