Desert exploring experiences

A playground for every age, there’s something otherworldly about being in a desert. With stark beauty deserving of a million photographs, the desert also holds plenty of secrets to be discovered.... An exploration could mean climbing the apricot dunes of Namibia’s iconic Sossusvlei dunes at sunrise, trekking through technicolour valleys in the Atacama, floating in the salty lagoons in Egypt’s Siwa Oasis or wandering on camelback through Rural Rajasthan. And let's not forget about the curious creatures that dwell, quite unbelievably, in these far-off places. And we haven’t even mentioned the stargazing…

Visit the breathtaking altiplanic lagoons

The Salar of Atacama stretches as a vast expanse of salt as far as the eye can see. Bathed in a gentle sun-kissed breeze, the ever-changing sky paints a mesmerizing backdrop to one of Earth's most breathtaking landscapes. From here, your journey progresses to the remarkable Piedras Rojas. To reach this destination, your vehicle will ascend to an altitude of 3,800 meters. A roughly hour-long round-trip hike unveils these copper-hued rocks, the surrounding lagoons, and salt flats. This stunning vista owes its unique geological formations to the oxidizing iron, lending the rocks their distinct hue. Amidst this grandeur, you will pause to savour a delightful breakfast. Next, you'll explore the Altiplanic Lagoons: Miscanti and Meñiques. These crystalline water bodies, flanked by imposing massifs, offer a landscape like no other. The deep blue of the sky mirrors in the lagoons, contrasting brilliantly with the ochre mountain ranges and the golden hues of the surrounding vegetation. The Altiplanic Lagoons are the Miscanti and Meñiques, two lagoons with crystalline waters, surrounded by massifs that have a unique landscape. Where we can see the sky deep blue colour reflected on the lagoons and its contrast with the ocher colours of the mountain range and the yellow of its vegetation.

Go on a game drive along Skeleton Coast

Namibia is famous for its vast and seemingly uninhabitable landscapes, and the Skeleton Coast trumps them all. Set out on a game drive, expertly navigated by your guide, to discover the wildlife that has learnt to survive in the desert. Keep your binoculars affixed to your eyes while scanning the landscape for marching elephant, herds of strutting antelope and prides of lion draped over rocky outcrops (with shaggy brown hyena who often enjoy their leftovers). Marvel at nature's ability to adapt as life plays out on this arid coast. Luckily, you don't have to survive without refreshments, which are readily available!
