About A Beach Symphony

An oasis along Kerala's coastline, where rolling waves are the soundtrack to your day.
A Beach Symphony certainly lives up to its name, where you wake up to the sounds of ample birdlife and lapping waves just steps away from your cottage. The seaside resort makes its business in relaxation - curl up with a book in one of the hammocks strung between frangipani trees or watch fishermen arrive with their catch in little boats from your veranda. Each named after a musical instrument, Symphony's four cottages are surrounded by lofty palms, making for a real sense of privacy. Venture into the nearby villages for a tour of the markets and historic buildings or spend hours strolling along the powder-white sand of Marari Beach.

Property details

The property

In a tropical garden of frangipani, hibiscus and oleander, Symphony has an inviting stone pool with orange loungers to recline on. The Ayur Kutiram offers relaxing Ayurvedic treatments and you can enjoy yoga classes on your private veranda. Tuck into a continental or South Indian breakfast as the birds serenade you from the treetops. Served in your cottage, meals are made with fresh ingredients from the local market. You can also enjoy a candelit dinner in the garden or at a secluded pavilion on the beachfront.

The rooms

Built in the image of fishermen's cottages, each villa opens onto a spacious patio with a sitting area and dining table looking out over the garden. The cottages are decorated in a traditional style (some more rustic than others) with antique furnishings, carved wooden decor and polished columns. The en-suite bathrooms have marble or granite sinks and a walk-in shower. The Sitar has a private garden, Violin has a plunge pool and Kombu cottage comes with two bedrooms, making it ideal for families.

Activities

With the beach on your doorstep, it's easy to lose track of time as you meander your way down the shoreline, relax on the sand and watch boats return from their fishing trips. Symphony is all about winding down and enjoying a little R&R, but you can embark on a tuk-tuk or bicycle ride into town. Pick up hand-made crafts at a local market, get to know the village's ancient coir industry or visit some of Kerala's most celebrated temples. Symphony's spa is always waiting when you get back!

Although there's no official bar, the hotel does have a small stock of wine and beer on request.

Something to think about

The waves can get pretty rough so swimming may not be on the cards, depending on when you visit.
