At Amanbagh , dining begins with the likes of French toast dipped in buttery caramel for breakfast. Meals using local family recipes (or a more international assortment) and fresh ingredients from the 2-acre organic garden can be enjoyed in the dining room or out on the rooftop terrace. The Aman Spa offers relaxing treatments including a Himalayan hot stone massage and Shirodhara, the gentle pouring of liquids on your forehead. Enjoy yoga sessions on the open-air pavilion, meditation by the lake or spend time soaking in the pool.
From the selection of rooms and suites, you can choose between a private terrace or courtyard. In shades of cream and pink, the suites are simply elegant with black cushioned furnishings. Each suite comes with a king size bed, outdoor dining area and cushy lounge with a daybed. The Pool Pavilions are the largest; with a private pool, walk-in wardrobe and a garden courtyard. The bathrooms at Amanbagh are the showstoppers with a tub carved out of Udaipur green marble and walk-in shower. Other amenities include air-con, mini bar, desk and WiFi - but no TV.
The Aravali hills and their skirts of green are filled with little towns and ancient temples. Days spent at Aman Bagh include outings to the 17th-century town of Bhangarh, a haunting collection of aged palaces, temples and bazaars. You can't visit this part of Rajasthan without a meander through Sariska Tiger Reserve, a bygone hunting ground now home to jaguar, sambar deer, caracal and the Royal Bengals themselves. The intriguingly named Cow Dust Tour is a trundle through local villages and herds of animals, which is especially scenic as dusk approaches.
Venture from the well-trodden trails to see a different side of the regal state.
