About Amanjena Resort

Pretty, palatial, and far from the clatter, Amanjena is a not-so-little slice of paradise.
With its rose-hued columns, reflecting pools that mirror the desert sky, and delicious, minimalist style, Amanjena echoes the ruined palaces of old Marrakesh. We'd expect nothing less than perfection in an Aman property - and there really is something special about this one. Lilting music echoes through sweeping archways and palm-filled courtyards, key-hole doorways lead into private gardens, and the spa treatments are wickedly good. Amanjena means 'peaceful paradise' and, in its ethereal hallways and quiet gardens, we couldn't agree more...

Property details

The property

Amanjena keeps every space as open as possible to reflect the desert beyond its walls, beginning in the voluminous courtyard filled with bubbling fountains. Pull back the drapes to find a nonchalantly-elegant pool terrace for a breakfast of French toast and chia seed pudding, drift off at the spa, or curl up with a book from the two-storey library. With a menu taking its influences from Berber, Andalusian and Middle Eastern cuisine, the restaurant is set in a mini riad where local musicians provide the soundtrack.

The rooms

Accommodation is split between pavilions and two-storey maisons. Done in Amanjena's quintessential pink, the rooms have high ceilings, bright interiors, and authentic candle lanterns, and all en-suites have enviable, Ouarzazate marble bathtubs. Pavilions have a private garden with a dining gazebo, whilst some also have a large heated pool. Looking over the palm groves and High Atlas Mountains, the maisons are exceedingly lush with amenities that range between a private pool and outdoor fireplace to a 24/7 host and private bar.

Activities

For your fill of sightseeing in the Medina, the hotel provides a complimentary car ride, but there is also plenty to do in Palmeraie and beyond. Enjoy a day trip to Lake Lalla Takerkoust for a picnic at the water's edge, cycle round Palmeraie's pretty streets, and take a camel ride into the Agafay desert for dinner under the stars. There are also hot air balloon flights over the Atlas Mountains, treks to find ancient Berber villages and, of course, teeing off at one of the areas many golf courses.
