Surrounded by a bleached-wood deck and speckled by shady trees and sun lounger 'bean bags' the pool deck has relaxation down to a T. Nearby, there's a fitness centre and that amazing glass sauna, and it's all surrounded by the pretty (and - in the temperature sense - cool) gardens. Above, the rooftop area offers even more space to spread out. The restaurant operates at a level that would work in São Paulo or Rio, serving delicious Brazilian cuisine with plenty of vegetarian options and everything from brunch to high tea.
There are just eight rooms at the Anacardier - and each is absolutely gorgeous, from the white-washed interiors to the pebble mirrors, woven light fittings and cool-as-a-cucumber decor. And they don't just look good; everything works properly too - air conditioning that actually cools the space, flat-screen TVs, bathrooms with great water pressure, and beautiful linens. Every room has a terrace with either pool or garden views, but choose carefully as some look directly at the pool and feel a little less more private.
The beachfront location means you can walk to Atins' famous kitesurfing spots, and the concierge will set you up with private lessons from local operators who definitely know what they're doing. You're also perfectly positioned to explore the Lençóis Maranhenses’ endless dunes and lagoons, on quad bike, foot or even horseback! On the water, book a boat cruise down the Preguiças River and drift through the mangroves, spotting small villages and wildlife as you go.

Wind-swept dunes watch over shimmering, freshwater lagoons in this fantasmagorical setting.
