Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge is almost entirely built from local materials using traditional caboclo techniques. The buildings are scattered through the forest on wooden stilts, connected by elevated walkways that protect the ecosystem below. In the main lodge, you'll find a fabulous restaurant serving Amazonian-international fusion cuisine and Wi-Fi in the library (if you really want it). There's also a swimming pool with a view and a 40-foot observation tower. And then, the floating bar - it's literally anchored in the river, mere metres from frolicking pink dolphins.
There are sixteen standard cottages and four deluxe bungalows to choose from. All are surrounded by the rainforest with excellent views from enormous windows - and the hammocks on the private terraces. Inside, the rooms are comfortable and cosy, with large beds and pretty linens, separate living areas, bathrooms with warm showers and big bathtubs, and aircon, The four deluxe rooms are slightly further up the hill for better views, and the two panoramic bungalows have those beautiful big windows.
Activities at Anavilhanas are multiple and excellent! Motorised boat trips offer the best chance of spotting dolphins and other river wildlife, whilst traditional wooden canoes offer a more intimate exploration of the flooded forests and hidden lakes. Piranha fishing also provides surprisingly entertaining moments in wooden canoes! On land, expert local guides will share their knowledge about the jungle's medicinal plants and fruits on guided walks, while visits to isolated communities offer authentic cultural exchanges. Then at night, venture into the jungle at night to spot sloths, snakes, and caimans illuminated by starlight.
