The lodge is centred around the Hornbill restaurant, set in a simple, open-air pavilion with epic views of the jungle. The menu offers a medley of Thai favourites, made with fresh herbs and vegetables from the local market and the lodge's own garden. And Anurak will happily make the dishes as spicy (or not) as you like. Sundowners are enjoyed at the Cloud Season bar with creative cocktails like Anurak for Her - a mix of Bacardi, rum and fruits.
Set in stilted bungalows amongst the greenery, there are 20 rooms at Anurak. The style is warm and unfussy with a large, netting-clad bed, a rain shower and natural toiletries and large patio for a morning cuppa. Each room has a ceiling fan and airy design, with air-conditioning for the hottest months. The largest bungalow has room for extra beds for families. The lodge also has two safari tents, raised off the ground with a hammock to enjoy the scenic view.
Wake at sunrise for a hike to Cheow Lan Lake, a mini ocean at Khao Sok's centre surrounded by towers of limestone, and take a boat ride across its still water. Trek through the forest to find hidden caves and waterfalls, track the footprints of leopard and wild tapir, and spend an afternoon at an elephant sanctuary (be ready to get splashed at bath time). You'll also have the chance to explore local plantations and cook a traditional meal at a nearby farm.
Jurassic scenery, hardy trekking and the chance to spot wildlife in the planet’s oldest rainforest.
