About Arakur Resort & Spa

This hilltop resort with end-of-the-world views is bound to leave a mark.
Set on a magnificent 250-metre-high outcrop surrounded by ancient austral forests, it’s hard to compete with Arakur Resort and Spa's views and setting. This Patagonian gem sits within the Cerro Alarkén Natural Reserve, less than 20 minutes away from downtown Ushuaia and the views are quite something to behold: jagged snowy peaks rise behind, and the famous Beagle Channel glistens down below. Designed to the latest, top-notch standards of sustainable architecture, the entire construction blends perfectly into the environment, seemingly without a trace - but comfort and superb service certainly aren't forgotten either.

Property details

The property

The resort is clad in stone and oxidised copper panels, the green hues harmonising perfectly with the trees. Inside, the style is equally as eco-conscious mood, with all local materials - picture plenty of wood, marble and stone - and view-framing windows looking over the Beagle Channel and surrounding mountains. Spacious common areas include the “La Cravia” restaurant, where regional and international dishes are served a la carte or buffet-style, and there’s also a cool piano bar for cocktails and snacks. The stars of the show, however, are the 17-metre lap pool, the in-out chilling pool with hydro-jets, and the three amazing hot tubs on the hilltop outdoor deck - you’ll never want to get out of the water

The rooms

Arakur has 117 rooms and suites, all dressed in local materials and with a focus on wood. All are equipped with the latest comfort technology - think geothermal AC, humidity control and acoustic insulation - and have cloud-like King-sized or twin beds and spacious bathrooms with showers and bathtubs (bath salts included!). Apart from size, rooms vary in terms of views: the mountain and valley views are spectacular, but nothing beats the Beagle Channel...

Activities

One could spend days on end just going back and forth between the spa, the swimming pool and the hot tubs on the outdoor deck - and it’s certainly an option. But if you'd like to balance your indoor indulgence with some outdoorsy activities, fret not - there is no shortage of these either. Hiking trails around the Nature Reserve start virtually from the resort’s doors and can be explored independently or with one of the hotel’s guides. For venturing into Tierra del Fuego National Park there’s an amazing train exploration, and of course boat and canoe outings to the many sights around the Beagle Channel are a must - thousands of cute penguins await!

Sitting in the outdoor hot tub, immersed in warm water and feeling the crisp air on the tips of your ears and just revelling in the beauty of Tierra del Fuego. Unbeatable.

Embark on a guide-free excursion and check out the walking trails around the hotel. You’ll feel like you’re in a nature wonderland 5 minutes into the walk - and quite the explorer!
Something to think about

Something to think about

The resort sits on a hill and not within walking distance from Ushuaia, so if you plan to spend a bit of time downtown, this probably won’t work for you.

Wild, rugged and downright incredible, the “End of the World” is prime bucket-list material
