About Atzaro Okavango Camp

Gorgeous interiors and front-row seats to the Okavango's safari scenes await at Atzaro.
Re-opening on 1 November 2024, with views of the Okavango Delta's lush palm islands, Atzaro is an idyllic trifecta of stunning interiors, sustainability, and fabulous game viewing. At the lodge, the picture-perfect suites are designed to mirror the beauty of the landscape with their soft shades of cream, sand and pale green. The ancestral boma is especially loved by guests and has beautiful collection of local and historical pieces to take you on a journey through the Delta's heritage. Sustainability, conservation and a commitment to the surrounding communities are also a core feature of a stay here, with plenty of experiences to engage with. And then there's the wildlife. Perched next to a shimmering lagoon, you'll spot elephant wading from your private deck - and that's before you've even left camp...

Property details

The property

Built using recycled materials, the main lodge is a thatched structure that opens onto an expansive deck with amazing views of the lagoon. The lounge is dotted with plump leather couches and plush rugs and softly lit by woven lamps. The dining area serves a menu that celebrates the flavours of the region, paired with wines chosen by the in-house sommelier. The Palm Bar has a fine selection of drinks while the high tea room boasts an observation deck. And in the evenings, the firepit lounge is the place to be as fireflies light up the reeds.

The rooms

Draped in warm, natural tones, with hand-carved wooden furnishings, armchairs and locally-inspired decor, Atzaro has 12 luxury suites including two double family rooms. A swathe of glass walls reveal megawatt views of the lagoon and palm islands beyond, best enjoyed from the large canopy bed. In the en-suite bathrooms, there are indoor and outdoor showers as well as a bathtub on the private deck and a small plunge pool to cool you down. And did we mention that star beds are available for an unforgettable sleep under the night sky?

Activities

The Okavango Delta has no trouble when it comes to the variety of activities on offer and at Atzaro, it's no different. Explore the area on day and nighttime drives, walking safaris and mokoro rides, or even try your hand at catch-and-release fishing. Along the way, you'll spy elephant, buffalo, lion, red lechwe and hippo (to name a few) as well as a plethora of birdlife including the coveted Pel's fishing owl. In your down time, head for the infinity pool or admire the works at the in-house art gallery.
