The best part about the main area is the viewing deck that looks westwards over the Xakanaxa Lagoon - a perfect spot for a sundowner! There's also a secluded swimming pool nearby, nestled in the surrounding bush. The elevated lounge and sunken bar has several comfy couches an an impressively high thatch roof. The day's feasting happens either in the thatched boma or under the canopy of jackalberry trees in the dining room. The main area is surrounded by some beautifully manicured lawns and an expansive sense of space.
There are 12 Meru-style tents, including one family unit, each built on raised teak decks. Each has it's own en-suite bathroom with a shower, flush toilet and vanity area. Large woven mats give the bedrooms a homely feel, and the four-poster beds, draped with mosquito nets, add a touch of elegance. The rooms extend onto their own small private decks, surrounded by a woodland of mopane, jackalberries and sycamore figs, where you can sit and enjoy the views and the birdlife in the canopy around you.
Because of its location within Moremi Game Reserve, Camp Moremi's activities must abide by park regulations. The morning and afternoon game drives can be quite productive - diverse habitats in this region are home to a wide array of predators and antelope species, as well as large herds of buffalo and elephant - but are limited to daylight hours. There's also a high chance of seeing a few other vehicles which does diminish the sense of exclusivity a bit. You can also get out on a boat - a great way to explore the lagoon and get up close to its creatures, especially some spectacular waterfowl.
Camp Moremi is owned by Desert & Delta Safaris which prioritises community welfare, conservation, and sustainable tourism. They support local communities through education and employment initiatives while providing advanced healthcare for staff. Environmental responsibility is paramount, with efforts in wildlife conservation, sustainable tourism, and gender equality. Their commitment to staff wellness fosters a supportive work environment, embodying a holistic approach to safari operations.
