The large main tent sits on a raised wooden platform over split levels, with a dining area along one edge (partially screened by reeds), and a cosy bar area leading into a comfortable lounge and library. A wide terrace in front of the tent overlooks the boma and fire pit, with an open-air viewing deck a short distance away – a perfect spot to watch herds of elephant and other wildlife coming down for their evening drinks.
Five comfortable Meru-style tents line the Savuti Channel, each on raised timber decks with balconies out front. Their large interiors have huge double or twin beds, beautiful linen and plush carpets in earthy natural tones, and a romantic, wild air that only sleeping under canvas can create. The en-suite bathrooms have a bath and an open-air shower. As the camp is unfenced, it’s not unusual to have elephant, buffalo and other wildlife passing within a few metres of your abode.
This part of Botswana is renowned for its spectacular game viewing (particularly predators) and early morning and afternoon game drives offer the chance to see huge prides of lion, a thriving cheetah population, ever-present spotted hyena, leopard, and the exciting possibility of encountering packs of rare African wild dogs. Expect to see impressive herds of elephant and buffalo, and a wide variety of plains game. Guided bush walks and outstanding birdwatching add to this quality safari experience.
