There's a secret Singapore hideaway on Sentosa Island, and the Capella has well and truly discovered it! Spread across 30 acres of tropical gardens, the uber-polished hideaway fuses 1880s colonial bungalows (think British officers' quarters) with Foster + Partners' swooping contemporary curves. Despite being the venue for that infamous Trump-Kim summit, it's refreshingly unpretentious – just brilliantly executed luxury, a mere ten minutes from Marina Bay. When in situ, sip Navegante rum at Bob's Bar whilst roaming peacocks patrol the grounds, or discover your lunar-alignment at the sumptuous Forbes Five-Star Auriga Spa. Or head further afield and discover the island with its enormous luges, ziplines and Singapore's Universal Studios.

The restored colonial bungalows house a reception, library and several restaurants while a modern figure-eight building curves through the grounds and holds all the guest rooms. Outside, three cascading pools descend like rice terraces toward the sea, all watched over by the Living Room lounge and the ladies enjoying afternoon tea on the terrace (complimentary for guests). Dining spans the globe from Fiamma's three-Michelin-starred Italian to Cassia's contemporary Cantonese, although it's Bob's Bar that steals the show with its Cuban vibe and exclusive Barbados rum. The award-winning Auriga Spa works on lunar cycles with Organic Pharmacy treatments in private garden suites.
All 112 rooms channel Indonesian designer Jaya Ibrahim's sophisticated Asian aesthetic of soothing neutral palettes and natural materials. Entry-level Premier rooms (77 square metres) are among Singapore's largest with BOSE sound systems, Nespresso machines and beautiful Aesop amenities. One step up are the villas, all with private plunge pools and outdoor bathrooms with alfresco tubs. Two Colonial Manors occupy restored heritage bungalows, each with three bedrooms. Whichever you choose, they all have touch-panel controls and a personal 'Culturist' who acts as a multi-hyphenate butler.
The three pools are at the heart of the Capella, alongside tennis courts and complimentary bicycles for exploring the island. If you desirer, there are plenty of daily activities at the hotel itself, including rum appreciation, build-your-own-boba workshops, heritage tours showcasing over 900 artworks, and morning peacock encounters. Championship Sentosa Golf Club sits two minutes away and Universal Studios is within a 15-minute walk. Of course, you'll likely want to hit Palawan Beach – accessed via a private pathway – while adventure seekers can ride the cable car to Mount Faber or try out the thrilling luge experience.
Capella's 'Culturists' see to every detail from getting to know your must-haves before arrival to planning epic outings.
If you fancy really indulging, the Constellation Suite has a rooftop hot tub.
Being on an island means bridge or cable car access, which isn't ideal for frequent city trips, but still manageable.

A whole world of street-food smoke, neon gardens and sky-high cocktails in one tiny island.
