About Carana Beach Hotel

Boulder-framed ocean views and beach-chic style at this Seychelles gem
Mahé is the largest island in the Seychelles archipelago. With its crisp, white beaches and rainforest-blanketed granite peaks, covered markets and Creole architecture, the island is a gorgeous tropical holiday destination. Lying at its northern end, Carana Beach Hotel offers views of its beach and small bay from almost every room. And, with its nautical and island-themed decor throughout, the hotel spells beachside pleasure. Forty chalets (12 with private plunge pools – calling all honeymooners!), fresh and fruity cocktails beside the pool, long beach strolls and plenty of watersports. Pure Seychelles-style bliss.

Property details

The property

Nothing says summer vacation like a tropical island beachfront hotel fronted by the bluest-blue bay. Add ocean views from the bar and lounge, and a sea-facing swimming pool, and you'll never want to leave. Sipping delicious cocktails as the sun drops behind the island is what summer is all about, along with delicious dishes created with fresh and locally sourced ingredients served in the hotel's main 'Lorizon' restaurant. Finally, there's a spa to soothe your city-weary muscles into syrup-soft submission.

The rooms

The 40 chalets all replicate the island's architecture (with a twist), with modern barefoot-chic interiors that are simply luxurious. After a morning swim head back for a snack from your mini-bar fridge, put the kettle on and take your cuppa on the open terrace, gazing at the 50-shades-of-blue ocean. When the midday sun bites, head into the cool air-conditioned interior to share your island pictures with your instafans.

Activities

The beach is it! Top up your tan, take a stroll, or plunge into the waves with a surfboard, or boogie board if you're struggling to hang ten. For some island-wide views, hike the jungle. Need some culture? The national history museum is the best place to go for authentic and exotic tales of Seychelles. Then visit the Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market for a colour, taste and culture explosion (and to do some shopping).
