About Chitabe Lediba Camp

Exceptional service and wild dog viewing

Chitabe Lediba is the smaller of two sister camps situated in the private Chitabe Reserve on the eastern side of the Okavango Delta. The camp is an independent four-room counterpart to the nearby eight-room Chitabe Main Camp. Its smaller size increases the intimacy and exclusivity. Mostly a dry camp with sporadic seasonal flooding, this family-friendly, well appointed tented camp is known for its broad range of habitats and species, as well as exceptional service and its wild dog population.

Property details

The property

Chitabe Lediba Camp was designed with comfort in mind. The large open plan central area is built on a wooden platform, with a thatched ceiling and views of the bush on all sides. The interleading dining and lounge area create a welcoming flow for guests to meet, while large comfortable leather and wicker furniture populates the lounge. There is a swimming pool for refreshing dips and a campfire to sit beside and sip a comforting beverage under the African night sky. The decor is elegantly simple, in keeping with the pristine wilderness beyond.

The rooms

The camp consists of five elevated en-suite tented chalets, including two family tents, connected to the main areas by raised wooden walkways. Each tent has been tastefully decorated and comes complete with private indoor and outdoor showers and even a ceiling fan for those hot summer afternoons. To top this all off there’s a personal deck with glorious views of the Delta. With polished dark-wood floors and woven rugs, the decor achieves a smart, elegant and airy feel without feeling overdone.

Activities

Although no water activities are offered, guests can look forward to day and night game drives in this private concession. Bush walks are offered but are subject to availability of guides. If you are able to take one, you will discover that it is an extra special way to encounter Africa’s greatest wilderness, complete with all her hidden treasures and subtle magic. A timeless winner is an indulgent candle-lit dinner out in the bush, under the star-studded African sky. It’s an experience unmatched by even the best restaurants in the world.

Why we love it

Why we love it

An intimate, five-tent version of its celebrated sister camp — same incredible concession and wildlife, but with a cosier, more personal atmosphere that feels like your own private corner of the Delta.

Insiders Tip

Request a tent overlooking the lagoon — watching elephants come to drink at sunset while you sip a G&T on your deck is pure Okavango magic.

Something to think about

Something to think about

It shares a concession with Chitabe Camp, so you may encounter other vehicles on game drives — though the guiding team does an excellent job of spacing out sightings.
