The spacious main areas are flooded with light, with wide passageways, tall doors, high ceilings and plenty of windows. The lounge and dining areas open to covered decks and glorious views of the wetlands, the ocean and the shimmering pool. The decor incorporates pieces reminiscent of the Karoo, aged furnishings in shades of brown and tan, and the aforementioned light fittings. Guests unanimously rave about the breakfasts, served between 08:30 and 10:00 am.
The architect-designed accommodation ranges in size from gorgeous suites to the self-catering Brakkloof Unit and Brakvlei House, and the large, three-bedroomed House Philip, just metres from the main area. All are beautifully decorated with pleasingly understated elegance and all those little luxuries that make life special – custom-made beds, 100% percale cotton linen, underfloor heating in the bathrooms, lovely toiletries and five-star views.
