About Cousine Island Lodge

Ecotourism at its most glamorous, nesting turtles and gigantic tortoises
Cousine Island is a unique outcrop of land. Not only is it privately owned, it's one of the most untouched islands in the Seychelles archipelago and is regarded as one of the prime ecologically important private islands on earth. This is paradise. There's just one lodge here, and it accommodates no more than 10 guests at a time – in line with its strict green principles. It's not a cheap getaway, so you can expect the best accommodation, five-star cuisine, pristine beaches, extraordinary wildlife and a chance to get involved with the management's conservation schemes.

Property details

The property

The communal Pavilion, with its deeply shaded veranda leading to a large pool, has views across the water to the neighbouring islands. There's a bar, a well-stocked library and an airy lounge and restaurant. The cuisine is five star, with the chef consulting you daily with queries and suggestions about the dishes you'd prefer.

The rooms

With just four private villas and the stately Presidential Villa situated 30 metres from the beach, the guests (just 10 in total) have the island to themselves. The villas are spacious, elegantly furnished with hand-crafted pieces – large and comfortable beds and comfortable seating. The bathrooms are large and the verandas deep and shady – perfect for snoozing.

Activities

Take a sail in the solar-propelled catamaran, go kayaking, snorkel the reefs, go fishing, get a massage or simply sunbathe on the beach. Explore the woodlands' birdlife and learn about the hawksbill and green turtles that nest here. Guests at Cousine are invited to take part in the island's conservation work, so plant a tree or assist the conservation officers with turtle monitoring. No pressure though – your visit itself is a contribution!
