This stylish eco-conscious tented camp is situated in the bountiful Linyanti concession, near the source of the Savute Channel, in northern Botswana. Set amongst swamps, floodplains and mopane woodlands, Duma Tau is surrounded by lagoons teeming with hippo and water birds. Duma Tau means ‘roar of the lion’ and, as its name suggests, the camp offers great big cat sightings. Predators aside, it is also known for its large concentrations of elephants, as well as a rich variety of other game. Overall, a high quality facility that roars with offerings.

Duma Tau Camp consists of ten en-suite thatched and canvas tents, two of which are designed for families. Elevated and built beneath African ebony, sausage and mangosteen trees, Duma Tau has a light, contemporary look with whitewashed wooden floors and natural-coloured furnishings. Large double or twin beds surrounded by mosquito nets are primed for peaceful sleep, while the overhead fan keeps you cool. The comfortable chairs on your private viewing deck are splendid for soaking up the stunning river views.
The elephants — hundreds of them, swimming across channels, spraying each other playfully, wandering past your tent. With 45km of river frontage and two major elephant corridors converging here, this is the place to witness Africa's giants at their most relaxed.
Time your visit for the dry season (June to October) when the elephant herds are at their most spectacular — and don't miss the sunset boat cruise to watch them swimming across the channel.
The game viewing here is seasonal — visit during the green season and you'll trade those epic elephant herds for quieter, greener scenery and newborn wildlife instead.
Duma Tau Camp is owned by Wilderness safaris which aims to double its conservation impact by 2030, protecting 6 million acres of land. Their framework focuses on Educate, Empower, and Protect pillars, building a conservation economy, nurturing future leaders, and preserving unfenced wilderness. Through immersive hospitality experiences and partnerships with nonprofits like Children in the Wilderness and the Wilderness Trust, they engage guests in conservation efforts and address diverse threats to wilderness, wildlife, and communities.
