About El Casco Art Hotel

Classic elegance and art galore on the shores of stunning Nahuel Huapi lake.
Back in the 70s and 80s, the popular El Casco hotel, owned and hosted by a German aristocrat couple, exuded European glamour and attracted visitors from all around the world. It then went through a series of owners and even closed its doors for a few years before being taken over by an avid Argentinian art collector. Nowadays, while preserving its original spirit of elegance and hospitality, the renovated version of El Casco is all about the 500+ original paintings and sculptures by Argentinian artists, impeccably decorating every last room. Coupled with the dreamy surroundings, this is one unforgettable experience.

Property details

The property

Boasting the title of Argentina’s first Art hotel, El Casco features a classic style and sobre décor that let the artwork do all the talking. The elegant restaurant offers an abundant breakfast (until 11am!) and a selection of Patagonia-inspired dishes for lunch and dinner, while signature cocktails at the lobby bar take inspiration from the surrounding artworks. The spa’s heated pool, outdoor jacuzzi and sauna are heaven after an adventure-packed day while the curated gardens provide the perfect spot to sit back and enjoy the view - with a glass of the best grapes, of course.

The rooms

One of the greatest things about the hotel is that, regardless of which room you plump for, you’re guaranteed incredible lake views. All 33 hotel rooms come with a minibar, fine marble top bathrooms with plush bathrobes and, most importantly, plenty of art. If you’re looking for a bit of extra space, opt for the Nahuel corner or balcony studio with its separate seating area and added bathtub. And if you feel like going all out, the master suite throws in a hydromassage tub and even an extra bathroom.

Activities

A 15-minute drive will get you to an array of golf courses, the famous Cerro Catedral, or downtown Bariloche, so there’s plenty of activities to plan your days around. If you’re there during ski season, there’s a special concierge assistant for Cerro Catedral activities. Year-round, the friendly staff at reception are happy to help out with recommendations on where to go and what to do around the area, as well as boating or fishing excursions on the lake and renting a car or bike to explore at your leisure.

Two things you shouldn’t miss out on: the complimentary guided tour of the hotel’s art collection and the famous afternoon “El Casco Tea” for two. Trust us, there’s a reason this full-service experience - lake views included! - is so popular.
