The common areas are housed in the “Octagon”, a cosy main building where guests often gather after the day’s adventure to relax and exchange stories. The upstairs lounge is full of plush couches to while away the evenings or catch up on some reading, while downstairs, the bar is always stocked for a pre-dinner something. Breakfast is a generous spread of fresh juice, fruit, pastries, and hot and cold delicacies, and the chef serves up exquisite buffet lunches and à la carte dinners featuring only the freshest of ingredients.
Five individual bungalows surround the main Octagon, each with a shared entryway and a living room leading to four independent rooms. As with the common areas, décor in the rooms echoes the hues of the surrounding steppe, with beautiful natural prints and exquisite black and white photographs adorning the walls. Magnificent views of the bay can be enjoyed from the window seating, and carpeted floors add to the warmth. Beds are large and comfy and en-suite bathrooms have both a bath and shower, bespoke toiletries and much-appreciated hot water, hairdryers and heated towel rails!
All of the included daily activities take place in the hotel grounds and surroundings, usually in small groups guided by the Estancia’s fantastic staff. A boat trip to the glacier is a highlight, but treks, horseback rides and four-wheel drive adventures up the mountain are also excellent options. For those looking for independent activities, there are a variety of short, self-guided walking and mountain biking circuits to enjoy, as well as exciting fly fishing expeditions. And don’t worry, all necessary equipment is provided by the lodge.
