Fort Rawla's garden has a resort feel to it with a large patterned pool surrounded by loungers and leafy banana palms. Alongside, you'll find the Narlai Spa cabanas for a little R&R. There's all-day dining at the Jharoka Cafe with a varied menu and an open-air courtyard to enjoy the sunshine; or take your dinner with a view on the ramparts. The J Bar has a real old-school feel with red furnishings and traditional latticed decor.
Set around a series of courtyards, Rawla has 32 rooms and suites, each with an en-suite. These range from rooms steeped in history, original frescoed walls and stained glass windows, to the hotel's new wing rooms where modern design pays homage to the hotel's roots with lattice work designs and carved arches. In shades of cream or powder blue, each room comes with a king bed, cushy window seat and patterned rugs. The Luxury Grand Heritage suites have a living area and terrace.
Your activities at Fort Rawla have to begin with a trek up Elephant Hill, named after the white stone tusker on top. It takes 700 steps to climb this granite monolith, exploring cave temples on the way up, and enjoying an amazing view of the sunset at the top. Explore the countryside with a ride on the resident Marwari horses, leopard spotting drives or a nature walk into the foothills of the Aravali Range. Enjoy a tour of Narlai village and visit the serene Adinath Jain Temple, or tuck into afternoon tea at Sali Bandh dam with birdlife galore.
Venture from the well-trodden trails to see a different side of the regal state.
