Understated colonial style meets natural island inspiration in the main part of the resort. There are two restaurants, a chic cocktail bar and outdoor sun deck overlooking the swimming pool and beach, and an open-plan lounge, all beneath traditional thatched ceilings that catch the tropical breeze. There are a number of spa suites tucked away in the gardens, plus a yoga pavilion and gym, a watersports centre, a floodlit tennis court, and an indoor games room.
Accommodation is beautifully laid out in the gardens along the beach, with a choice of bungalow rooms, larger suites and villas, and magnificent, multi-roomed residences – there really is something to suit all requirements. Each has a stunning indoor and outdoor bathroom, a private patio and plunge pool, and discreet modern luxuries which complement the earthy décor perfectly. Villas have an open-plan bedroom and lounge, and the residences have a fully equipped kitchen, elegant dining room, and even a private butler.
Desroches has a dedicated watersports centre for scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking, windsurfing, and SUP boarding, and deep sea fishing and cruises to nearby islands can also be arranged. Explore the island on foot or by bicycle, meet the local islanders in the tiny village, and be sure to visit the giant Aldabra tortoises. Otherwise, stay closer to home and enjoy a game of tennis, work out in the gym followed by an indulgent spa treatment (or just the spa!), and kick back and relax poolside with a signature cocktail or two.
