About Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai

With a setting as nature-bound as it is polished, the Four Seasons' reputation rings true.
If the mention of Thailand conjures up visions of old-fashioned pavilions reflected in lotus ponds, palatial villas and foot massages enjoyed by an infinity pool, you won't be disappointed! Sheltered in one of northern Thailand's most scenic spots, the Mae Rim Valley, this is a getaway for every season. You won't have to leave the resort to satisfy your yearnings for bona fide Thai cuisine, the Rim Tai Kitchen has interactive street food evenings. Tap into the bucolic surrounds with a morning of rice planting or hiking into the mountains to find a waterfall. The only way to end a day like this is sipping on an Old City Sunset cocktail as you watch the sky turn orange.

Property details

The property

The Four Seasons has two multi-level infinity pools overlooking the lush rice paddies. Enjoy soul-soothing treatments at the spa, yoga at the barn on the water, or learn the ropes of Muay Thai boxing (with a well-earned soak in the whirpool afterwards). North creates grilled Thai cusine (try the chocolate on fire dessert!) and Khao serves up dishes from across Asia under grand chandeliers. The open-air Ratree Bar & Lounge has massive day beds and swings amongst metallic columns, the perfect spot to enjoy a signature cocktail or game of billiards.

The rooms

In a milieu of tropical gardens or water-logged rice fields, the resort has 99 pavilion villas, each more striking than the next. A sala complete with swinging sofa welcomes you to a spacious abode, dotted with Siamese artefacts, original paintings and decor in shades of soft blue and gold. The bathrooms are rather opulent, featuring a deliciously large bath and ornate detailing. Surrounded by waterfalls, the top prize is the Residence Villa (read, mansion), which has endless privacy, a lovely pool, alfresco living area and butler service.

Activities

Before you tear yourself from the resort, take a personalised lesson in Thai cooking or enjoy a game of tennis. There's plenty of natural beauty to be enjoyed on hikes into the forest, river rafting excursions and visits to the nearby elephant sanctuary (be prepared to get a little wet!). Trundle into the ancient and enchanting city of Chiang Mai. Discover the night markets of Old City and make the trek to Wat Phra Doi Suthep, one of the most spiritually treasured places in Thailand.
