About H10 Duque de Loulé

Contemporary boutique elegance in an 18th-century shell with Lisbon's best rooftop views.

Opened in 2015 following a loving restoration of an 18th-century building, this four-pearl boutique beauty from Spanish group H10 Hotels strikes that sweet spot between historic charm and modern polish. Designed by Spanish designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán, the interiors are a masterclass in contemporary Portuguese style – think blue-and-white azulejo tiles depicting historic scenes, whitewashed wooden ceilings, glossy parquet floors and creative lighting. With 89 elegant rooms, Restaurant Azul e Branco serving Mediterranean-Portuguese fusion, the intimate Equestre library bar, and the stunning Limão Rooftop Bar on the 10th floor with panoramic views over Lisbon and the Tagus Estuary, it's sophisticated city living done properly. The location on leafy Avenida Duque de Loulé puts you metres from Praça Marquês de Pombal and that grand boulevard Avenida da Liberdade.

Property details

The property

The ground-floor reception area immediately impresses with its white wood and mirror desk, whilst the business corner features high-backed leather armchairs beside a small fireplace. The Equestre library bar flows seamlessly into Restaurant Azul e Branco – both spaces beautifully decorated with those iconic blue-and-white tiles, brown leather chairs, plush white seating, and a gorgeous mix of antique and modern lighting. The restaurant displays lovely china plates and serves international cuisine with Portuguese and Mediterranean influences. The breakfast buffet gets consistent praise for variety and quality (though it's pricey if not included in your rate). The star attraction is undoubtedly the Limão Rooftop Bar on the 10th floor – covered and open-air sections with blue-and-white tiled floors, comfortable seating (including a large blue sofa with cushions), tables overlooking the city, and those jaw-dropping panoramic views. It's equally popular with Lisboetas and visitors for good reason. There's a small but adequate gym, two elegant meeting rooms (one with natural light holding up to 120 people), covered private parking (for a fee, with electric vehicle charging including Tesla), free Wi-Fi throughout, and exceptionally warm, attentive staff who consistently go above and beyond.

The rooms

All 89 rooms showcase that contemporary blue-and-white aesthetic, with hardwood floors, large windows, elegant furnishings and charming touches like Portuguese tile details on white wall panels. Standard Double rooms are cosy with delightful window seats (perfect for reading), whilst Superior rooms add space and tall four-poster beds with French windows. Deluxe rooms and Suites are ideal for families with sofa beds and plush seating areas. Corner Superior rooms are particularly lovely – spacious and airy with windows on two sides. Every room includes air conditioning, flat-screen TV, Nespresso machine, minibar, laptop-friendly workspace, safe, and quality linens. The bathrooms are properly stylish with glossy checkerboard tiling, double sinks, powerful showers, and Rituals products in eco-friendly dispensers (larger rooms even have kid-specific Daisy toiletries). Some rooms overlook Rua de Santa Marta or Avenida Duque de Loulé with city views, whilst others face the internal patio – definitely request street-facing rooms if views matter. Upper floors are quieter, though a few rooms near the elevator can pick up some noise. Beds consistently get rave reviews for comfort.
