Surrounded by sprawling gardens, rolling hills and the glassy Black Lake, the main lodge has multiple terraces and cosy spaces to get cosy in or gather the family together for a game. The restaurant is decorated with bric-a-brac of all sorts creating a casual atmosphere, and serves a range of tasty regional and international dishes in front of the fire. Or, head to the authentic Quincho for a spit-roasted dinner. There's also a hot tub and sauna for a little R&R when the time comes.
There are two suites in the main building, but the remaining rooms are in separate bungalows, all cleverly designed with slanted roofs and circular alcoves. The rooms are decorated in natural tones with olive-green feature walls, light wood furnishings and few accoutrements - and all have a wood-burning fire. Family rooms or the Cabana del Lago (accommodating up to six people) are also available, and are located in an independent villa with a private terrace overlooking the lake. The most exciting (and scenic) are the floating lake rooms, accessed via a footbridge.
If you're hankering to get on the water, kayak across the Black Lake or beneath the impressive marble formations on the General Carrera Lake, go white water rafting on Baker River, or fish for rainbow trout. The lodge has specially-designed hiking routes for all levels of experience and will take you to the hanging glaciers of Exploradores River and the slopes of Mount San Valentin, picking Patagonian fruits along the way. For added adrenaline, enjoy a zip-line through the trees, listening for bird calls as you go.
