The camp is fairly rustic in terms of offerings, but it has everything you'll need. All meals are served in the main restaurant or enjoyed at tables scattered outside, and when the weather allows, BBQ campfire suppers under the stars are a real treat. There's no spa but you can request a traditional Thai massage if the mood takes you, and the natural pool is heaven after a busy day. Oh, and the best views are from the reception area if you'd like somewhere quiet to gaze at the river.
Pared-back white canvas tents provide the perfect spot to rest your head after a long day of history buffing. Each tent enjoys its own private bathroom at the back (with hot running water), a private deck to relax on (although the rooms do face inwards towards each other), air-conditioning and a torch in case you lose your way at night.
The main drawcard here is the proximity to the poignant history of this area and all who visit are encouraged to explore Hellfire Pass and learn about the PoW who built the infamous railway, and delve deeper into its tragic past. There are also plenty of non-history related activities to occupy your time; canoeing or bamboo rafting down the river, visiting the Lawa Caves, taking in the beautiful local waterfalls, and visiting the local villages to learn about the Mon people's way of life.
