About Hotel Cala Caterina

A pink-washed Mediterranean gem with its own secret sandy cove and pine-fragrant gardens.

On the southeast coast, where the scent of pine mingles with salty sea breezes, lies a delightful retreat that's equal parts secluded haven and sun-drenched paradise. Pink-washed walls hint at the warmth that awaits inside, while expansive gardens dotted with swaying pines and rolling lawns lead the eye toward a private sandy cove that could have been plucked straight from a picture postcard. Just a short jaunt from Cagliari's airport (how convenient!), yet worlds away from any hustle and bustle, this lovely spot manages that rare travel trick – feeling utterly remote while being rather accessible. Stroll to nearby beaches, explore the local marina, or simply stay put and soak up the Mediterranean magic from a lounger strategically placed beneath the Sardinian sun.

Property details

The property

The grounds are quite simply magnificent - green lawns roll toward the sea under the watchful gaze of fragrant pine trees, creating perfect spots for idle wandering or afternoon reading. At the heart sits a tempting pool where you can alternate between refreshing dips and sips from the poolside bar (their cocktails are rather splendid, we must say). The wellness area, though modest in size, packs in plenty of pampering potential with aromatic sensory baths, a steam cave that works wonders on travel-weary muscles, and open-air massage options that make excellent use of those sea breezes. Come evening, the restaurant terrace becomes the place to be, serving up Mediterranean dishes with views to match.

The rooms

All 49 rooms embrace classic Mediterranean aesthetics with distinctly different personalities - some opt for crisp white-and-pastel palettes that capture the coastal light, while others feature warm wood and terracotta tones that echo the island's earthy character. Each comes with its own outdoor space (either a patio or balcony) offering garden or sea views that beckon you to linger over morning coffee or evening aperitifs. Families are well catered for in the larger rooms and suites, which can accommodate extra beds for little ones. The décor throughout manages to be simultaneously unfussy and elegant - rather like the hotel itself.

What you'll love

What you'll love

Waking up to breakfast on your private patio or balcony with nothing but birdsong and sea views for company - particularly spectacular if you've nabbed one of the suites with a private gazebo overlooking the beach.

Insiders tip

Insiders Tip

Book a massage in the garden gazebo during the golden hour as the sun begins its descent - the combination of skilled hands and that magical light filtering through the pines is utterly rejuvenating.

Something to think about

Something to think about

The private beach is undeniably charming, but it's on the smaller side and flanked by rocks – worth keeping in mind if you're planning lengthy beach days during peak season.
