The 17th-century haveli has an elegant charm complete with bowls of magenta flowers and potted plants that fill the courtyard and wrap-around patios. Their are wrap-around views to match too, gaze out over the lake and some of Udaipur's finest - aka the City Palace and the hilltop Monsoon Palace. The property

On Jagat's lovely rooftop, you'll find Chandni, which serves up traditional Rajasthani cuisine as well as more continental fare. At Jharoka, you can enjoy a range of dishes in beautifully carved nooks or airy corridors complete with ceiling frescoes. Keeping up with the rooftop theme, the hotel also has an idyllic pool (with a view!) and for extra relaxation, head to the spa for a dreamy Ayurvedic massage. With colourful trimmings throughout, the palace has lovely artistic touches like a golden lotus mural, royal portraits and eclectic furnishings.

The rooms

The palace has a variety of rooms from the lake-view suites and Heritage rooms to haveli and standard rooms, most of which have a view of the courtyard. Classy palettes of cream and white alongside decorated frescoes adorn each room. The beds are laid out with floral prints and some rooms come with decorative touches like a chandelier and multi-coloured windows. Lovely balconies and cushy window seats make for the perfect place to enjoy the view.

Activities

The 'Venice of the East' comes alive as you walk the city streets past lanes of handicrafts and jewellery. Visit gems like the Bagore Ki Haveli Museum with its fascinating collections including the world's largest turbans. The City Palace is an Udaipur staple complete with ornate rooms and amazing courtyards to get lost in.
