The camps chosen depend on your budget and itinerary, ranging from smart fixed tents with bush-chic decor and a swimming pool, to temporary fly camps with a mess tent and a camp fire at their heart. Most camps will be the latter, but we urge you not to underestimate the comfort each offers. Fixed camps are very selectively chosen, and aim to support the most up-to-scratch locally owned businesses.
Mobile accommodation consists of dome tents, Meru-style Comfort Tents, and larger Meru Luxury Tents. Each sleep two in a double bed (the dome tent) or two large twin beds. All have off-the-grid en-suite facilities (a hot bucket shower and not-unpleasant long-drop toilet). Tent space and luxury varies according to budget, but all are perfectly adequate, serviced daily and secure from insects and critters. Fixed accommodation is usually quite high-end, featuring sumptuous beds, great views and amenities such as deep bathtubs.
Activities vary according to region, but your tour always aims to provide you with a multi-faceted view of the area and its inhabitants. Options include game drives (most common), guided walks, mokoro rides, boat trips, and night drives (though not in every region). Whatever your experience, whether watching lions in Savute, chuckling at Chobe's elephant families bathing, or meditating on the Kalahari's utter vastness, your guides will give you some real insights into what you see and what you don't.
