In a treehouse setting of its own, the dining and lounge area are homely and filled with warmth, their shelves dotted with hand-crafted decor. Hearty meals can be enjoyed around the table or out on the verandah. Down a wooden walkway, you'll find a splash pool and sun loungers – the perfect spot to soak up the view. The devoted staff are discreet but always on hand to rustle up a cocktail or offer tales from their own safaris.
There are just three suites at the Treehouse, each one suspended on stilts amongst the leafy canopy. All are tastefully furnished with large, extra-length beds draped in mosquito netting, desks, spacious sitting areas and rotating fans. The style is down-to-earth but elevated with pretty rugs and neutral tones throughout. The en-suite bathrooms are well-equipped with a shower, basin and loo. Each suite opens onto a verandah, where you can watch the sun come up over the wilderness around you.
The activities at the Treehouse are very much dependent on the season. Between June and September, when the floods are in full force, boating and mokoro safaris are king. You can also enjoy lingering walks on nearby islands - and always keep your eyes peeled for the incredible birdlife. Alternatively, from October to May, the floodplains dry up and the pools left behind attract a menagerie of creatures including elephant, buffalo, antelope and the big cats. During this time, game drives are your primary way of safari-ing.
