Every room at the kasbah has a warm, authentic feel. Behind its aged stone walls and grand wooden doors, you'll find a plethora of lounges in richly-patterned textiles as well as a rooftop terrace, decked out in sienna carpets and cushions. This is where you'll sip tea under the parasols and enjoy most breakfasts (as the weather allows), while taking in the view of snow-capped Mount Toubkal. In the dining room, hearty Moroccan fare is served at low, candlelit tables, beginning with a Berber ritual of rinsing your hands in rose water poured from an elegant kettle.
Simply decorated with Berber rugs, large linen-clad beds, and walnut furniture, most rooms are inside the main kasbah and have a private balcony. Further down the garden, there is a villa with space for six. It has a large, cosy lounge with a fireplace, kitchen and dining area, and plate-glass wall with soaring views towards Mount Toubkal. All rooms were built using natural materials and the bathrooms are supplied with piping-hot water from a local spring, which is brought up on horseback. The rooms also have a heater and tea / coffee facilities. There are also 11 rooms in the Dar Imlil village.
Reached by a 15-minute walk or mule ride, the Kasbah Du Toubkal is a true mountain escape. It also has a roster of activities to match - and that's when you're not enjoying a massage at the hammam. The wonderful staff can arrange gentle hikes into the Atlas foothills and the Tizi 'n Tamatert viewpoint, or head off on one of their regular two-day ascents of Mount Toubkal (at 4168 metres) where you'll spend a night at the kasbah's exclusive trekking lodge. There are also a number of multi-day routes. From January to March, snowfall permitting, you could enjoy a spot of skiing.
