Khwai Guest House

A circular thatched main area houses the restaurant/dining room and a stylish, cushioned bench-seat lounge. There is a tea and coffee station where you can help yourself; other beverages can be ordered from the bar. The communal kitchen is nearby, fully equipped with all you need to cook your own grub. The soft green walls and pale concrete floors are accented with gray and brown fabrics and a few bright splashes of color. Despite its simplicity this area has a supremely homey feel.

The six cleverly built, low impact structures sleep two each in either double or twin bed configurations. They are positioned relatively close to one another, however, connected to the main area via sandy pathways. Each room has an ensuite bathroom and private open-air shower and are stylishly decorated with one brightly colored wall and a few funky patterned cushions. Each has closet space, a fold-away mosquito net, a safe to secure valuables and a ceiling fan. You'll have all you need and nothing you don't.

You can elect to do various activities from three-hour game drives in the Khwai or Moremi game reserves, to full day excursions. If you are not driving yourself, activities should be booked in advance to ensure availability. The most tranquil and traditional way to explore the Delta - gliding along its shallow channels via mokoro, is a must (if you visit during the flood season - April through September). Night drives can also be rewarding though highly variable. If you're interested in learning a bit about the people of Botswana, this is one of the better-connected camps in the region, offering a glimpse into the traditions and modern living conditions of local people.
