About Killa Bhawan

There's something special about staying in a historic fort - expect a stellar view to boot!
The crowning glory of Jaisalmer is its fort and this just happens to be true for Killa Bhawan as well. Gazing like a sentintel over the city, three bastions of this historic building have been converted into a hotel, which is filled with colourful rooms and surrounded by a centuries-long military past. Thanks to its unique location, Killa Bhawan has a platoon of famous neighbours including the seven ornate Jain temples and some of the oldest libraries in India. The staff are welcoming and really go the extra mile - so if you're looking to go on a self-guided tour, ask away!

Property details

The property

In its yellow sandstone fortress, Killa Bhawan is surrounded by history and with its stellar location, the hotel is unique in every sense. The rooftop terrace is decked out with a cosy day bed and potted plants, which makes for a lovely breakfast spot. There are also plenty of little patios to enjoy the view, which is especially memorable at sunset. You really get a taste of the hotel's history thanks to the rich textiles and intricate carved walls that fill every room!

The rooms

Killa Bhawan has eight rooms in various shades of scarlet, indigo and orange. Each room is decorated with antique pieces and the original walls make for a real heritage feel. You have the choice of Heritage, Deluxe Heritage (with outdoor dining area) and Family rooms, all complete with a cushy sitting area, closet and landmark views. The Family rooms are, of course, well-suited for families or large groups with three rooms, two adjoining marble bathrooms, a private lobby and roof terraces.

Activities

After soaking up the views of golden Jaisalmer, head out for a day of exploring (including guided tours courtesy of the hotel). The city is jam-packed with historic buildings and bazaars, beginning with the Salim Singh Ki Haveli, a stunning mansion with 38 balconies, or visit Badah Bagh, a sprawling garden overlooking a set of royal cenotaphs. Then hit the winding lanes to indulge in some street food or jewellery made by Jaisalmer's famous goldsmiths. For a taste of adventure, enjoy a day-trip to the Desert National Park where you could spot an Indian fox or chinkara amongst the dunes.
