About Kings Pool Camp

A lodge that’s fit for royalty in a special, lagoon-side location in Linyanti.
As you would expect from a camp named after Scandinavian royalty, the much-loved King’s Pool has all the trappings for an uber-luxurious Okavango Delta safari. Situated in the Linyanti concession of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, you’ll have access to no less than three-million untamed hectares of watery wilderness, including the animal-filled Savute Channel. Back at base, the highlight of King’s Pool is undoubtedly the oxbow-shaped, hippo-filled lagoon of the same name right at the front of camp, providing fabulous game viewing from the (supreme) comfort of your armchair. When you’re not focusing on the wildlife, expect fine dining, elegant, safari-chic rooms and an all-round authentic experience.

Property details

The property

The main area, deck and bar are all open-sided to maximise the views of the water and the elephants ambling through – settle down in the sunken seating area for the best view. All the spaces are geared to deliver royal treatment and there’s an indoor dining room, lavish bar and lounge as well as an open-air dining area for alfresco meals. There’s also a plunge pool to spend your siesta at and a campfire area for morning tea and coffee with the birds. And, despite its opulence, the whole lodge is 100% solar-powered, proving that you can be large and luxurious as well as eco-conscious.

The rooms

The nine suites at King’s Pool are all homely yet lavish. With high, thatched ceilings, they feel airy and spacious and each has a large four-poster, mini lounge area and an ensuite bathroom. Outside, you’ve got a large deck with a private plunge pool, loungers and a sala (a shaded area with lots of squashy cushions), all of which are prime spots from which to admire the beautiful views and wildlife. Throughout, the splashes of blue and turquoise remind you of your watery location – in this case, literally on the edge of the lagoon.

Activities

Whether on land or water, King’s Pool offers spectacular wildlife viewing. Day and night game drives reveal two completely different worlds, whilst walks with experienced guides provide the chance to observe the little things you may miss when in a vehicle. Catch-and-release fishing, boat cruises and massages offer guaranteed relaxation. Sunset cruises down the Linyanti River on the Queen Sylvia barge are also notoriously excellent! All water activities are of course subject to the weather and the water levels.

The unique, sunken-level hide is most certainly worth a visit. Even if you’re not a photographer, gazing up at the elephants from below the ground is incredible.
