The house is built with bold, straight lines giving it a particularly modern feel. The breakfast room has half a dozen glass-topped tables and is flanked on either side by a lounge with a fireplace. Concertina doors fold away to create a seamless transition to the patio and pool area, which is surrounded by gardens and a sheltered BBQ/braai area. The pool has several cushioned sun-loungers and there are a few more chairs and picnic tables out on the lawn.
There are six individually decorated rooms, ranging in style and size. The smallest is still a decent 18m² and has a large balcony with views of the adjacent park. The largest is the corner deluxe suite which can sleep four guests (including kiddies) with an extra long king-sized bed and two balconies. Air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, DSTV and mini-bars come standard along with plenty of cupboard space. All the rooms have spacious ensuite bathrooms, four of which have baths as well as showers.
Durban gets more than its fair share of sunshine and as the third largest city in the country, there is much on offer, from its heady mix of bars and restaurants, to its heritage buildings and botanical gardens. uShaka Marine World is well-known for its aquarium and water parks, and the Natal Shark Board offers a one-of-a-kind experience. With the largest population of Indian people outside of India, the spice markets and world-class cuisine should come as no surprise. And with an endless beach of golden sand and warm blue waters, the options for fun in the sun are limited only by your imagination (ok, and maybe your proficiency on a surfboard).
Visit the quirky city for unique cafes, aromatic curries, pretty beaches and a dose of sunshine.
