The best part of Le Rêve Hotel is the patio garden lined with walls of green. Breakfast here, under the fruit trees as the fountain bubbles nearby, is a must and the buffet is a classic mix of pastries, fresh fruit, cereals and eggs to order. The elegant marble lobby leads into a homely lounge, filled with bookcases, watercolours and Tiffany lamps, where you can enjoy a tipple from the 'honesty' bar. The hotel also boasts a shop that sells art, handicrafts and other souvenirs.
The hotel has 31 rooms and suites, all decorated in a vintage style with ornately-framed watercolours, pinstriped wallpaper and velvety fabrics on each bed. The furnishings are dark wood apart from a delicate desk, where a bottle of champers may be waiting. Each room has French doors overlooking the lovely street or courtyard garden, and some enjoy their own balcony. The bathrooms are spacious and light with huge showers, lavender toiletries, and honeyed marble and glass. Other amenities include coffee and tea facilities, a TV and Wi-Fi.
The hotel is surrounded by top eateries, from Japanese to Italian cuisine, including some of Santiago's best. Dive into the city's past on a walkabout (or cycle) between its many historic spots, showcasing pre-Columbian history and Spanish rule. Visit the city's Plaza de Armas, which was built in 1541, where you'll see the iconic peach-coloured church, then make the walk up Cerro Santa Lucia for incredible views of the city and Andes beyond, or catch sunset from the top of the glossy Sky Costanera building.
