Resting in a tranquil tropical garden, Les Lauriers has earned a reputation for its down to earth charm, comfortable quarters and excellent restaurant. It is well known in the region for its delicious nightly Creole buffets, featuring local specialties such as richly spiced curries and barbequed seafood sourced straight from the ocean. The lodge is largely ‘off the grid’, using solar energy to provide power and heat water, recycled water to irrigate the garden, and a chemical-free biotechnology cleaning range.
Accommodation strikes the perfect blend of creature comforts and contemporary flair. The individual villas are set amongst the lush jungle of Praslin Island. Rooms come in three categories – standard, family and private villa. The standard option is inclusive of a balcony shaded by coconut palms and is ideal for singles and couples; family rooms are large and comfortable; and the spacious villas, with both indoor and outdoor showers, are perfect for large groups. Rooms are light and airy, elegantly understated and dotted with splashes of colour against natural tones. All room facilities are 100% ‘green’ and all soaps ad shampoos biodegradable.
Activities include big game fishing charters; swimming and relaxing on the beaches of nearby Cote d’Or and idyllic Anse Lazio - among the most beautiful beaches on earth; and day-trip boat cruises to the islands of Curieuse, Cousin and St Pierre, fringed by secluded sand beaches and surrounded by coral reefs that offer spectacular snorkelling. Inland, you will find the Vallee de Mai Nature Reserve and World Heritage Site, an ancient palm forest with rich wildlife and fairytale walking trails.
