About Letaka Tented Camp - Moremi

True-blue African exploration in the heart of Botswana's Okavango Delta.
A trip to Botswana's Okavango Delta is an unparalleled safari delight - and a trip to Moremi Reserve, within the Delta, showcases its absolute best. Letaka Mobile Safaris is a family-run business, owned and operated by expert guides who have been exploring in the area for decades. Their knowledge of it runs deep. It's a place of switching waterways, seasonal floodplains, palm islands, vast grasslands and, of course, a glut of wildlife. While your campsite may change on this movable feast of an adventure, levels of hospitality and quality of service remain highly stable. For safari the old-school way, this trip with Letaka is hard to top. This camp can only be booked as part of a mobile safari and not independently.

Property details

The property

Each camp set-up is located on the verge of a woodland or next to a water source. This means a bit of natural shelter is always accompanied by incredible views. Always at the heart of camp is a fireplace, surrounded by canvas chairs and a canvas dining tent, where a single table hosts convivial meals of remarkably good homemade fare. It may be basic, but it's charming and we think you'll love it.

The rooms

The two-person safari tents are simple but always comfortable. Inside, you'll find twin beds, cosy duvets, mattresses and soft pillows and there's no crawling around either - all tents are tall enough to stand up in. At the back is the bathroom. Again, it's a simple affair with a toilet, basin and bucket shower (hot water on request), but it's got everything you'll need.

Activities

On this multi-day, multi-destination trip, your perspective is ever-evolving. Game drives will be the backbone of your journey, but traversing the waterways via mokoro (a dugout canoe) will let you tune in to the subtleties of the surroundings. Moremi is especially well-known for its predators – leopard and lion and hyena in particular – as well as a good variety of general game. Rare bird species can be seen too, and the Pel's fishing owl and African skimmers are among the most sought after.
