About Little Vumbura Camp

Laid-back island luxury, where water-based safaris are the main event.
This intimate tented camp is the smaller, simpler counterpart of the super luxurious Vumbura Plains. Nestled within an ancient shady forest, in a private concession in the Northern part of the Okavango Delta, it is only accessible by boat. The camp is surrounded by water of varying depths and it has access to dry open plains, woodlands and riverine forests. Little Vumbura is the total package - a stylish, yet truly authentic Delta experience offering a diversity of species and a great combination of wet and dry safari year round.

Property details

The property

The main area overlooks the floodplains. Raised wooden decks link the tents to an open sided lounge, a dining room, and a communal fire area beneath the expansive star-studded skies - the perfect spot to recount the day’s sightings. There is a star deck that leads off from the dining room, and a secluded deck with a plunge pool, sun beds, and a shaded canopy offering respite from the heat. Visit the curio shop for cute keepsakes.

The rooms

Little Vumbura consists of six en-suite rooms with sophisticated yet simple decor that is designed to mirror the natural beauty of its lush surroundings. Although the tents are not particularly large, they have ample room and possess a sense of air and light, thanks to the light wooden floors, the large mesh windows and the lofty canvas ceilings. The tents are linked to the main area via raised wooden walkways that allow for the rising water levels.

Activities

Little Vumbura is slightly wetter than Vumbura Plains and, as a result, focusses slightly more on water-based activities than its sister camp. Activities include game drives and pre-arranged guided walks (at the discretion of the manager), mokoro meanders, and even occasional catch and release fishing with your guide. Cool off in the plunge pool after a hard day’s game viewing or get lost in a book in the reading area, which enjoys rich views of the floodplains.
