Mashatu Tented Camp

This camp caters for a maximum of 16 guests so the main area is small and intimate. It encourages congenial interaction and an inclusive atmosphere. Meals convene in the outdoor boma or under the shady thatched lapa, where you can watch the goings-on at the busy camp waterhole. There's a refreshing plunge pool which provides much needed relief from the relentless summer sun. But it's the exquisite setting in a riverine forest on the banks of the Nyaswe river that gives this camp its charm.

Each of the eight private tents is raised on a concrete platform ensuring an uninterrupted view of the riverbed below. After an adventure-filled day, you're guaranteed a good night's sleep in one of the large twin beds. Each tent has its own outdoor shower and WC. The camp only caters for kids 12 and up so there is no family suite. Instead, these comfortable tents in a rustic setting make for peaceful seclusion which is a luxury in itself.

A diverse array of activities awaits the adventurous. Besides very productive early morning and late afternoon/evening game drives, one can take a walk on the wild side, or even go mountain biking or horse-riding through the bush. These activities are at additional cost, but well worth it. They can either be planned to last several days and incorporate overnight stays in rustic bush camps, or just as a half-day morning or afternoon alternative to game drives.
