The entrance foyer sets the tone for the hotel with its airy, high ceilings, spacious seating areas, comfy couches and classically elegant style. Large glass windows let in plenty of natural light and of course, the jungle views, which is especially lovely in the bar and dining area. The smart restaurant features an international menu with a sprinkling of local influence and there’s also a bar by the outdoor pool, ideal for snacks and cold drinks during the day.
There are 100 rooms at the Mercure, all generously proportioned and impeccably clean. Beds are King- sized and most (but not all) have balconies with views of the jungle foliage; some face the outdoor pool too. There's AC (much needed in summer!), WiFi, and a work desk too. The bathroom is equally comfortable and spacious, with a bidet and standing shower. And, if you spring for a suite, added perks include an enormous bathtub and private terrace.
Most guests focus their stay on the Iguazu Falls, a 25-minute drive away from the hotel. There are always plenty of taxis outside to take you there, and the reception team are always happy to help with arrangements. The town centre is under 10 minutes in the car, or a 25-minute-ish walk, and you’ll find plenty of shops and restaurants to have a nose around. At the hotel, why not indulge in a full day of pampering? Start off with a light session at the fitness centre followed by a facial or massage at the spa and some time in the jacuzzi, and round everything off with a full afternoon lounging by the pool. Heaven!
